Asia SEED was founded in 1999 as a registered
nonprofit organization
taking over the activities
of human resources development
that had been
executed for a long period
by Japan Indonesia
Science and Technology
Forum which was established
in 1984.
Since then, Asia SEED has implemented some
activities such as higher human resources
development based on the support of the governments
of both Japan and Asian countries, promotion
of the small scale industries and entrepreneurship
in the local areas of Asian countries in
cooperation with universities and industries.
The rapid economic growth in Asia to date
has been achieved by development of the industries
which were supported by the various kinds
of social and economical infrastructure systems.
However, it is considered that the future
development of Asia highly depends upon the
knowledge intensive industries like ICT that
will play a more important role. In this
context, Asia SEED thinks that development
of the human resources, particularly higher
educated capable human resources are most
important for the further economic and social
development of Asia.
Asia SEED, in the meantime, would like to
contribute to foster the small and micro
scale industries in rural areas that have
an essential role to improve income differentials,
which has expanded in the process of the
current economic growth.
Asia SEED would be very happy if we could
achieve our original mission that is "to
germinate the Seeds" in Asia under the
collaboration with universities and industries
now and in the future, even if our achievement
is small.
